Obituary of Gerald Vincent Day

Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DAY, Gerald -age 55 of Enfield passed away suddenly January 21, 2020. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Joy and Randy Hodder. Gerald loved his family dearly; he put his family and friends above all else. He was able to solve any problem and fix anything that needed repair. He enjoyed collecting hockey cards, old magazines and comics. Gerald loved music, played guitar and had an extensive album collection. Gerald was an avid bowler and darts player. He coached little league softball for 10 years when his boys were young. He inspired his daughter to pursue her passion for art. He worked at Autoport Ltd. for more than 30 years, where he was a well-respected colleague and made friends with everyone. He enjoyed being busy; cooking, gardening and sports. Gerald was successful at everything he put his hand to. He had a wonderful sense of humour and could be counted on for a “bad Dad joke”. He was a warm, kind, loving and decent man. Gerald is survived by his parents, Joy and Randy Hodder; wife, Lynn; his children, Alyssa (Jesse), Connor (Emma) and Reiley (Julia); siblings, Debbie (Dean), Stacey (Chris), Jason(Sophie); nephew, Nicklaus; nieces, Olivia, MacKenzie and Fiona. He was predeceased by sister, Sherry; grandparents, Lillian and Andy Hodder, Mabel and Edison Day and Mary and Gerald Rafter. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A Celebration of Gerald’s Life will be held 2-5pm Sunday, January 26th in the Enfield Legion, 50 Old Enfield Rd. Family flowers only.
