PEASEY , George Leslie “Les” age 78 of Shubenacadie passed away January 10, 2018 in Debert Court, Debert. Born in Orangeville, ON, he was a son of the late Ernest and Edith (Scott) Peasey.
Les served for 27 years in the Royal Canadian Navy. Upon retirement he worked at the Gays River Mine and Kent Building Supplies. Les was an avid fisherman, curler, bowler and skiier. He was a dedicated community volunteer. He served as director of the Shubenacadie Tin Smith Shop, Director of the Shubenacadie Community Development Association and a dedicated volunteer to the Shubenacadie United Church.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret (McFarlane); sons, Chris (Anne) Greely, ON; Mike (Laura), Newmarket, NB, daughter, Michele, Milton, ON; grandchildren, Mikayla, Zachary, Katharine, Lauren, Alexandra and Jaxson; sister, Marlin (Ernie) Hagen, Vineland, ON.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A Celebration of Life will be held 2pm Sunday, January 14, 2018 in the Shubenacadie United Church, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash and Debert Court, Debert for their outstanding care given to Les.
Donations may be made to the Shubenacadie United Church, Canadian Diabetes Association or Alzheimers Society.
